NBC’s NFL ‘Sunday Night Football’ ratings are down from last year.

Peyton Manning’s Denver Bronco’s sweeped Indiana Colts last night. But, one thing he didn’t win was the TV ratings race. The NBC’s debut of Sunday Night Football couldn’t beat last year’s weekend start of the season.

According to Deadline, ratings dropped nearly 10% in comparison to last year.

That’s down 9% from the 16.6/27 that the SNF September 8, 2013 match-up between the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants and that other NFL Manning, younger brother Eli. To continue the battle of the Manning siblings, last year’s game was down from the record breaking 18.0/29 of that the 2012 Sunday opener pulled in the time adjusted results when the Broncos took on the Pittsburgh Steelers – that was Peyton’s official debut as a Bronco.

Tonight NFL’s Monday Night Football on ESPN will feature Eli Manning’s Giants versus the Detroit Lions. It is expected that this game will win the ratings match up. But, it does show that people may no longer be interested in NFL football games as much as they used to be. When major TV shows such as The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones, expect the ratings to continue to slide.
