Netflix announces ‘The Gray Man’ sequel with plans to make the film into an “expanded universe”.

The Gray Man will be the first feature film to air on Netflix, and it won’t be the last. There are plans for a sequel. The film is based on a comic book by Mark Millar. The story centers on an imprisoned man offered his freedom in return for working as an assassin for the CIA.

Ryan Gosling stars as the leading character, alongside Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jessica Henwick, and Regé-Jean Page.

The film has just been released on Netflix, with a whopping USD 200 million production budget, as one of the most expensive ventures in history. Netflix has announced that it will invest even more in The Gray Man, converting it into a franchise.

“The audience reaction to The Gray Man has been nothing short of phenomenal,” the Russo Brothers said. “We are so appreciative of the enthusiasm that fans across the world have had for this film.”

“With so many amazing characters in the movie, we had always intended for The Gray Man to be part of an expanded universe, and we are thrilled that Netflix is announcing a sequel with Ryan, as well as a second script that we’re excited to talk about soon,” they added.

The Gray Man is based on Mark Greaney’s bestselling novels. Netflix has not announced if the sequel film would continue to follow the storyline of Greaney’s books.
