Netflix Background Extra Upgraded to a Recurring Speaking Role

Netflix’s new series OBX was upgraded to a recurring speaking role.

TW Cast & Recruit, the extras casting company behind Netflix’s new series “OBX”, revealed on Facebook that a background actor was upgraded to a speaking role this week.

HUGE CONGRATS to Clay Lewis for being upgraded yesterday (on OBX) from BG to a recurring speaking role with multiple days of work!!!

The casting director wrote on Facebook, “HUGE CONGRATS to Clay Lewis for being upgraded yesterday (on OBX) from BG to a recurring speaking role with multiple days of work!!! We couldn’t be more thrilled for you, Clay!! Kudos and thanks for being such an awesome and reliable extra, the upgrade was definitely deserved!”

The new series called “OBX” is is a “coming of age story about four best friends in high school during the summer following a devastating hurricane.”

This is not the first time a background actor as upgraded to a speaking role. Recently, on the set of Kevin Hart’s new movie Night School, a background actor was also upgraded to a principal speaking role. Tyler Perry also has a history of upgrading background extras to speaking roles.
