‘Midnight Rider’ Filmmakers Turn Themselves into Police in Georgia

‘Midnight Rider’ filmmakers surrendered to police in Georgia over the weekend.

Midnight Rider‘ director Randall Miller and producers Jody Savin turned themselves in to police Sunday in Georgia following their July 3 grand jury indictments regarding the death of camera assistant Sarah Jones.

The couple posted bail and were released, a Wayne County Sheriff‘s Department according to Deadline.

If convicted, a manslaughter conviction would carry a sentence of 10 years in prison. Criminal trespass is a misdemeanor and carries a sentence of one year.

Miller, Savin, and executive producer/unit production manager Jay Sedrish were all charged with involuntary manslaughter and criminal trespassing by the Wayne Country justice system after a long investigation.

Sarah Jones was killed in Jesup, Georgia on February 20 when she was hit by a freight train while filming the Gregg Allman biopic.

Several other crew members were also injured in the accident. The film’s crew members were also on the train tracks.
