Mr. Transformers himself, Michael Bay, is returning to direct the next Transformers movie.

According to reports, the legendary action-movie filmmaker is hitting the trails promoting his latest movie, the Benghazi action-thriller 13 Hours. During his promotional tour, Bay revealed to Rolling Stone magazine that he will direct the next movie in the Transformers franchise. However, Michael Bay told Rolling Stone that this will be his last movie. “Transformers, I still have a great time,” he said. “It’s fun to do a movie that 100 million people will see. But this is the last one. I have to pass the reins to someone else.”

TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION

It is important to point out that the head studio for Transformers, Paramount, was searching high and low for a new director for the series. In fact, Paramount hired a ton of new writers to take the franchise in a new direction.

Mark Wahlberg, who starred in the last Transformers: Age of Extinction is expected to reprise his role in the series. According to The Hollywood reporter, Age of Extinction was a reboot of the previous three movies, but this new movie is expected to expand the cinematic universe for Transformers.
