‘Miami Vice’ reboot with Vin Diesel is coming soon at NBC.

NBC is looking to reboot one of their most popular TV shows. The network is teaming up with Vin Diesel to rebook the Miami Vice series.

The reboot, which has reportedly been in the works for the past few months, is being pushed by Shana Waterman who is most known for 24: Live Another Day, and Wayward Pines. Waterman previously worked as a Fox Broadcasting executive but now is the ahead of television for Diesel’s One Race Television production company.

Miami Vice is part of Diesel’s first-look deal with Universal Television. Peter Macmanus from Spike TV’s The Mist will write the script for the TV series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Diesel came up with the idea to reboot Miami Vice and personally talked to NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke to make the show happen. This will be Diesel’s largest scripted project ever.

Miami Vice ran for five seasons from 1984 to 1989. The show starred Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas as undercover detectives working on cases at Miami’s Metro-Dade Police department.
