Marvel is Creating a Superhero Comedy Series for ABC

ABC has recently ordered a script for a half-hour, single-camera comedy, Marvel’s Damage Control from the Marvel family.

According to THR, Marvel’s new series is called Marvel’s Damage Control and is described as “overworked and underpaid cleanup crew of the Marvel Universe. Their specialty is dealing with the aftermath of the unique fallout from superhero conflicts, like returning lost ray guns to their rightful owners, rescheduling a wedding venue after it has been vaporized in a battle or even tracking down a missing prize African parrot that’s been turned to stone or goo. Sometimes the most important heroes are the ones behind the scenes.”

The TV series will be based on the comic book series Damage Control, which debuted in 1989 and later spun into four later limited series.

Ben Karlin from Modern Family and The Daily Show developed the project and it will be executive produced by David Miner, who is known for working on Parks and Recreation.

Marvel is not the only comic book company getting into the comedy business. In August, NBC gave a pilot production commitment to DC Comics’ Powerless, which stems from A to Z creator Ben Queen, let’s hope that show lasts longer than A to Z which didn’t made it through season 1.

Damage Control is the latest TV show produced by Marvel and ABC, which is already the home to Agents of SHIELD and Agent Carter. Hopefully, this new comedic version of super-heroes will do better than ABC’s The Muppets comedic remake which has recently seen their ratings drop double digits after their first episode.
