Margot Robbie was absolutely terrified of Jared Leto as Leto took method acting to a new level while filming Suicide Squad.

Margot Robbie had one of the biggest roles in the highly anticipated Man of Steel spin-off Suicide Squad playing Harley Quinn. The movie’s cast features several of DC COmics’ major supervillains, but many people are interested in two things, Margot Robbie’s performance and Jared Leto’s version of The Joker.

Leto has some enormous clown shoes to fill, as he will inevitably be compared to Heath Ledger’s iconic version of the Joker. Robbie spoke with the New York Daily News as she finished working on the production. She called Leto’s performance “pretty impressive” because he nearly scared the crap out of her and the rest of the cast and not simply because he gave her a live rat since he’s a big method actor.

“What he’s doing with the character is so cool. At first it was kind of confronting (to be up close) but now I’m so used to it, I think if I ever saw him out of makeup now I would be really confused. Actually, I saw him out of makeup once and I was actually petrified of him. I was too scared to go up and didn’t know who that person was, and when he got back into his makeup I was far more comfortable.”

Margot Robbie also explained why this group of supervillains should be on your must see list when it hits theaters on August 2016.

“I guess the one common denominator is we’re all bad guys, it just makes everything more fun that way. The scenes are more interesting I feel, when you just don’t know how the characters are going to react, especially with Harley, who’s absolutely nuts … she’s either going to kill you or laugh and give you a hug.”

Margot Robbie also went on to discuss the Fantastic Four reboot, which did horribly wrong in the box office. She said, “I had a great meeting with the director, and I really enjoyed that.” Then came a telling statement: “I guess it’s part of the game: Sometime you win some, sometimes you lose some.”

Suicide Squad is written and directed by David Ayer, and stars an ensemble cast featuring Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Karen Fukuhara, Jay Hernandez, Adam Beach, and Viola Davis.
