It’s official, Sony is officially remaking “Jumanji” and it will be released Christmas 2016.

On Wednesday, Sony Pictures released its film schedule through 2019 with release dates for 16 new movies including the new “Jumanji” and two new “Bad Boys” movies.

News of a “Jumanji” remake first broke in 2012 when Sony announced to update the Robin Williams thriller. But, now you can expect to see a new “Jumanji” movie by 2016.

The original “Jumanji” plot centered around a 12-year-old Alan Parrish, who becomes trapped in a Jumanji game while playing the game with his best friend Sarah Whittle in 1969. Twenty-six years later, siblings Judy and Peter Shepherd find the game and begin playing and then unwittingly release the now-adult Alan. After tracking down Sarah, the quartet resolve to finish the game in order to undo all of the destruction it has wrought.

“Jumanji” was shot in Keene, New Hampshire and Vancouver, British Columbia in the 1990s. Despite its lukewarm critical reception, it was a box office success, earning $262,797,249 worldwide on a budget of approximately $65 million and was the 10th highest-grossing movie of 1995.
