About Joker (2019):

The Joker origin movie is about Arthur Fleck, better known as Joker in the Batman comic book. Joker tells the origin story of Joker, who was played by Joaquin Phoenix, how he became a psychopathic killer, and Gotham’s Clown Prince of Crime. Joker also stars Robert De Niro, Zazie Beatz, Marc Maron, and more. Joker is produced by Jon Silk and Emma Tillinger Koskoff.

Critics rushed to deconstruct Fleck’s origin tale and apparent victimhood, pointing out that the script was ironically misinterpreted for fan service by alt-right groups. Despite the backlash, Phillip’s screenplay received two Oscars and amassed $1 billion worldwide, with Phillip signing on to direct a sequel in May of last year.

Joker became the sixth-highest-grossing film of 2019 during its theatrical run. The film also received numerous awards. At the 92nd Academy Awards, it earned a leading 11 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay, winning Best Actor for Phoenix and Best Original Score for Hildur Guðnadóttir.
