Jennifer Lawrence donates $2 million dollars to a children’s hospital in her hometown for a cardiac intensive care unit.

While everyone loves Jennifer Lawrence for her off the cuff attitude, open personality, and love for acting, Lawrence is giving back to the community in more ways than most Hollywood professionals. According to reports, Jennifer Lawrence has donated $2 million to a children’s hospital in her hometown of Louisville, Kentucky.

The money will be used to build the Jennifer Lawrence Foundation Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Kosair Children’s Hospital.

The charitable 25-year-old actress announced the news via a video message, and also used the opportunity to encourage other to raise money for the cause.

‘As part of my effort to help these children and caregivers, I challenge the entire community to get behind this cause and help match my gift by raising an additional $2 million to support all of these brave and inspiring children,’ Jennifer said in the clip.

This news comes less than two months after Jennifer visited patients at the hospital on Christmas Eve, something she had also done in the past. In addition, Jennifer Lawrence took a break from filming the new X-Men movie, X-Men: Apocalypse in Montreal, Canada in August to spend time with the patients at Shriners Hospital for Children.

Shriners Hospital wrote on Facebook: ‘A very special visitor stopped by our Canada hospital today. Jennifer Lawrence is in Montreal filming a new movie and she made time to visit some of our #‎ShrinersCanada kids and staff. Everyone had a great time!’
