Jay Z’s Tidal Launches Two New Exclusive Series

Jay Z’s Tidal picks up two new series to expand the streaming network.

Jay Z’s Tidal, the steaming music-subscription service launched by the Brooklyn rapper, is expanding into new and original scripted and unscripted programming.

The company has currently ordered to produce two new series. Brooklyn street-life drama, “Money & Violence” season 2, with new episodes set to premiere in January, according to Variety.

Money & Violence is a new series and is created and stars Moise Verneau. The series was self-funded by the actor and uploaded to YouTube. The show gained a huge following and Jay Z picked up the series for a 12-episode second season. Currently, Tidal offers the first season of Money & Violence and exclusive behind the scenes information on their steaming website.

No Small Talk, a reality series about a group of aspiring comedians, which is expected to be released on November 3rd. The new series will be hosted by DJ Cipha Sounds, produced exclusively for Tidal. It will start out with five episodes of only 25 to 30 minutes each.

While Tidal offers a small selection of video content, including several music videos, short films and on-demand videos of past live streams, but these new series shows Jay Z’s new direction for the company.

According to Variety sources, Tidal is also planning on creating several new series centering around aspiring musicians and sports-related TV shows.

Jay Z’s decision comes as Tidal, which was backed by several major recording artists, struggles to compete with other major streaming competitors such as Apple Music, Spotify and YouTube.

There were also rumors that Jay Z was planning on selling the company to Samsung after a meeting with Samsung Electronics executives in Silicon Valley.
