Truck Brake Failure Nearly Killed Jason Statham

Expendables star Jason Statham nearly drowned on set of ‘Expendables 3‘ after the truck Jason Statham was driving lost it brakes and plunged 60 feet into the Black Sea.

According to reports, the ‘Expendables 3‘ movie crew was filming in Bulgaria, when the brakes failed on a 3-ton truck Statham was driving. Statham’s near death experienced was revealed in an interview with Sylvester Stallone. During the interview with The Mirror, Stallone said the door had been removed, allowing Statham to jump out of the truck as it flew off the cliff and into the water.

Stallone argues that Jason Statham was saved due his experience on the British National Diving Team in the 1990s.

“If anyone else had been in that truck we would have been dead because we were all wearing heavy boots and gun belts,” Stallone told the Mirror. “[He] would have drowned. But because Jason is an Olympic-quality diver he got out of it.”

This may sound like a crazy experience and story. But, it demonstrates how unsafe movie sets can be. Following the recent ‘Midnight Rider’ incident and death of camera assistant Sarah Jones,  on set accidents should be a thing of the past.
