The first 25 minutes of ‘Indiana Jones 5’ will feature a de-aged version of Harrison Ford.

Harrison Ford, who has been digitally made to look younger, will appear in the upcoming Indiana Jones movie for 25 minutes. The movie is set to release in the summer. LucasFilm confirmed that the VFX version of Ford would appear on screen for 20% of the film, possibly as a tribute to his iconic role. Last year’s report confirmed that de-aged characters were a vital storyline aspect.

In the upcoming movie “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” the fifth installment of the franchise, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy explained to Empire that the reason for de-aging Indiana Jones in the first 25 minutes is because the opening scene took place in 1944. He said, “I hope that, although it will be talked about in terms of technology, you just watch it and go, ‘Oh my God, they just found footage. This was a thing they shot 40 years ago.’” The upcoming part of the movie will take place in 1960 when Indy will start his mission to stop the resurgence of Nazism.

Recently, it was reported that Ford’s appearance was made younger in a film. The AI called FRAN (face re-aging network) requires photos of the person at a younger age in specific poses and lighting. The filmmakers utilized his prior performance footage to make Ford look more youthful.
