H&M Slammed for Racism for Featuring a Black Child Model Wearing a “Coolest Monkey in the Jungle” Hoodie

H&M is called racist after featuring a black boy wearing hoodie jacket saying “the coolest monkey in the jungle”.

Major fashion designer H&M has come under fire over a controversial photo of a children’s jacket, which shoppers have called “racist”.

The fashion company is selling a green hooded top on its UK and US websites with the phrase “Coolest Monkey in the Jungle.”

The image, which has since been taken down from the website, shows a young boy modeling the shirt.

Customers took to Twitter to question whether H&M were being “casually racist” boing out that “monkey” has long been used as a racial slur. Even those who doubted the brand was being racist admitted they should have had more awareness about the image.

The campaign group Models of Diversity, which pushes for more diversity in the modeling industry said, H&M should be “ashamed.”

A spokesman for H&M told MailOnline: ‘This image has now been removed from all H&M channels and we apologize to anyone this may have offended.’
