But, in a recent interview Nic Pizzolatto, the creator of True Detective, told the radio program, To the Best of Our Knowledge he revealed some hints as to what we can expect for the TV series.

Right now, we’re working with three leads. It takes place in California. Not Los Angeles, but some of the lesser known venues of California and we’re going to try to capture a certain psychosphere ambience of the place, much like we did with season one. The characters are all new, but I am deeply in love with all of them. We have the entire season broken out, and I have a couple of scripts, and we’ll probably start casting within the coming month.

True Detective is formatted so that Nic Pizzolatto can use the cop dynamics and setting to mess with the cast and storyline. Previously, Pizzolatto described Season 2 as a television series that focused on the “bad men, hard women and the secret occult history of the United States transportation system.”

Since, then he has not revealed too much. The first season was based on a 1985 short story titled, “The King in Yellow”.

It was previously believed that Jessica Chastain would lead the cast in the television series, but it was later ruled out. So, if you are keeping up with the cast, here are three actors that will not be in the show, Harrelson, McConaughey, and Jessica Chastain. But, it is still possible for Brad Pitt to join the cast.
