True Detective fans that attempted to watch the Sunday night finale were most likely let down.

The crime drama series premiered the final episode of the season on Sunday night but, so many people logged on to HBO GO to watch the season finale that it caused for the website to crash, according to a HBO’s twitter account.

“Due to overwhelmingly popular demand for‪#TrueDetective, we’ve been made aware of an issue affecting some users. Please try again soon,” read a tweet sent out Sunday night.

The television series stars Oscar Award winning actor Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as two homicide detectives tracking a serial killer.

This is HBO’s biggest television series since, Boardwalk Empire. HBO announced that they will be renewing the series for another season. But, McConaughey said he will not return for a second season. It is expected that the second season will feature a new cast similar to FX television series ‘American Horror Story’.
