HBO Renews ‘VEEP’ and ‘Silicon Valley’ for Another Season

HBO renews VEEP for a fourth season and Silicon Valley for a second season.

The two new series orders follows the recent two season return for Game of Thrones. 

According to Deadline, the ratings for both series were extremely impressive and gives reason to renew the series.

 The Mike Judge half-hour dark comedy was up 42% from the 1.4 million that the Veep series premiere drew on April 22, 2012That made the new show the best debut HBO has had for a half-hour since the 2.8 million who watched the Hung premiere in 2009. Silicon Valley also did much much better than the other most recent HBO debut of LookingSiliconValley’s unveiling also was more than double the 872,000 viewers that now-cultural-touchstone Girls had for its April 15, 2012, premiere. With two more plays over the night, Silicon Valley had a gross audience of 2.5 million. After that on the same night, Veep, the scathing look at fictional Vice President Selina Meyer, returned for a third season with 955,000 viewers.

Veep, created by Armando Iannuci, features Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Seinfeld) as Selina Meyer, a politician who becomes vice president to find out the job is nothing like she expected it would be.

Silicon Valley is inspired by Mike Judge’s experiences as a Silicon Valley engineer in the late 1980’s. The show features Thomas Middleditch, T.J. Miller, Zach Woods, Kumail Nanjiani, Martin Starr, Josh Brener, Amanda Crew and the late Christopher Evan Welch. Matt Ross guest stars
