‘The Gilmore Girls’ Reboot is Headed to Netflix

The Girlmore Girls are headed to Netflix.

According to reports, Netflix is currently working out the final details to reboot the Gilmore Girls.

The Gilmore Girls was created by Amy Sherman-Palladino and featured Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel as mother-daughter pairing Lorelai and Rory Gilmore. The series first premiered in 2000 and has since been extremely popular on Netflix. The series had ran for seven seasons and 153 episodes on The WB/CW, six of those under the direction of the original Gilmore Girls creator, Sherman-Palladino.

Palladino recently commented on the series during the Austin TV festival earlier this year, saying: “It’s always a bummer when you don’t get to end it. I had hoped maybe that there would have been a call, ‘Hey, it’s the last episode, do you want to come back?’ And there wasn’t. But that’s OK, that’s not the way it works in Hollywood where there are rules.”

According to reports, Netflix is looking to reboot the series into four 90-minute movies instead of a 10-episode series. But, casting directors are going to start looking for new actors as Melissa McCarthy’s career skyrocketed since appearing on The Gilmore Girls. Since the show wrapped in 2007, McCarthy has been on fire with several TV shows and movies.

While the deal is not yet official, the plan is to start filming by early next year.
