‘Ghostbusters’ Director Says He Won’t Reboot Another Classic Movie

Ghostbusters’ director, Paul Feig, says he doesn’t want to reboot another classic movie.

It’s extremely hard to reboot a beloved franchise film. For example the female Ghostbusters reboot didn’t do very well in the box office and several movie critics bashed the feature film. And evidently, the reboot left not only fans but the movie’s director with a bad taste in their mouth.

When asked whether he’d ever consider rebooting another classic movie, the director responded by saying “No, no, no. No, I will not,” Feig told The Huffington Post. Feig added, “This one was just too tempting because I knew we could do something with it that was exciting,” he explained.

Ghostbusters earned $116.7 million in the domestic box office and another $62.8 million internationally for a worldwide total of $179.5 million. However, due to its $144 million production budget, with at least another $100 million spent on marketing, the film will have to gross at least $400 million to break even. In addition, on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, Ghostbusters has an approval rating of 73%, based on 275 reviews, with an average rating of 6.5/10. The site’s critical consensus reads, “Ghostbusters does an impressive job of standing on its own as a freewheeling, marvelously cast supernatural comedy – even if it can’t help but pale somewhat in comparison with the classic original.”

That being said, I can understand Feig’s frustration.
