FX Networks Removes Billboards for ‘The Strain’ After Complaints, Protests

FX Network’s billboards were so disturbing that they are choosing to remove them after several complaints.

FX is taking down a few billboards for “The Strain” that are grossing people out across the country. The billboard features a worm crawling through an eyeball. Many people went on Twitter saying how much they hated the billboards, which show a worm going into an eye. A spokesman for FX told TheWrap that a few of the billboards will be removed but not all of them.

“We are in the process of replacing the key art for ‘The Strain‘ on outdoor media in several locations,” the spokesman told TheWrap.

This is not the first time that billboard companies refused to place certain FX advertisements. One such ad was for FX Network’s “The Shield” that showed Vic Mackey holding a gun. The Strain is an upcoming vampire horror television series that is in production at FX. It was created by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan, based on their novel trilogy of the same name. Del Toro and Hogan scripted the pilot episode, “Night Zero“, which del Toro directed.    Discuss this story with fellow Project Casting fans on Facebook. On Twitter, follow us at @projectcasting.
