FOX’s ‘X-Factor’ Canceled after Three Seasons

“The X Factor” is ending after three seasons.

FOX and the series’ production companies announced Friday that the United States version of the singing competition will not be coming back this fall.

“X Factor” judge and co-executive producer Simon Cowell, who served as the original judge on Fox’s “American Idol” for nine seasons, said the series will return to the United Kingdom version of the “X Factor” later this 2014.

Simon Cowell said in a statement that he had an amazing time working on “The X Factor” and “American Idol”. “Apart from being lucky enough to find some amazing talent on the shows, I have always had an incredible welcome from the American public — most of the time!”

The judge initially predicted that “X Factor” would be a major hit before it debuted in 2011, but the show never received high ratings, which continued tod rop into the last and final third season. Alos, winners of “X Factors” never were as succesful as past “Idol” champions.

The show’s hosts and judging panel was redone each season with Paula Abdul, Antonio “L.A.” Reid, Britney Spears, Demi Lovato and Kelly Rowland among those joining Cowell on the panel.
