Fox has renewed drama series Gotham for a fifth season and final season.

The final season will wrap up the origin story of the DC Comics super-villains. “The final season will focus on Bruce Wayne’s transformation into the caped crusader,” Fox said in announcing its Season 5 news.

Project Casting has posted casting calls for the series since the first season. The show stars Ben McKenzie as Detective James Gordon, Donal Logue as Detective Harvey Bullock, Morena Baccarin as Dr. Leslie Thompkins, Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth, Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle/the future Catwoman, and Cory Michael Smith as Edward Nygma/The Riddler.

Gotham debuted in 2014. The show averaged 1.2 rating among adults 18-49, which, according to The Wrap, are “not particularly great Nielsen” ratings.
