Florence Pugh’s Black Widow Is Rumored To Be The New Leader Of Marvel Studios’ ‘Thunderbolts.’

Yelena Belova is expected to be the leader of the antihero team in the upcoming Thunderbolts movie, as Justin Kroll from Deadline hinted in a recent appearance on The Town. “[Florence Pugh] has got the Marvel superhero that’s already got a spin-off,” said Kroll. “Upcoming for her, actually, on that character is this Thunderbolts film, which is basically Marvel’s Suicide Squad. Hopefully, it has better results. But the concept is it’d be her leading the team of like Wyatt Russell’s John Walker, Daniel Bruhl’s Zemo, those antiheroes that aren’t exactly good but aren’t exactly bad. So there’s that. And people seem to like the Yelena character.”

Yelena Belova, played by Pugh, was first introduced in Black Widow (2021) as the younger sister of Scarlett Johansson’s character Natasha Romanoff. As a result of the events of Endgame, Belova became the MCU’s new Black Widow and was last seen in the Disney+ series Hawkeye.

The fifth and final phase will conclude with The Avengers: Infinity War, which is set to premiere in theaters on July 26, 2024. Meanwhile, Pugh will portray Princess Irulan in Dune: Part Two, which debuts on November 17, 2023.

The first season will premiere in 2024.
