Facebook’s New Feature Will Create More Jobs for Models

You will now be able to start online shopping via Facebook which will boost the number of modeling jobs and careers.

Social media is slowly being condensed, reformed, rehashed, and rebranded to nearly every single part of your day. According to a new report, Facebook is now going to allow stores to sell their products on the social media platform.

Facebook will test a new “shopping” section among a small fraction of users. Based on brands a user has “liked,” the shopping bookmark will show a list of products that a user can browse through, all without leaving Facebook. Retailers using the shopping feature will have the option of allowing customers to purchase directly within Facebook or to transfer customers to their individual site.

An additional feature that has been live since last month is Canvas advertising, which allows users to click an ad and view product information in a new window while still browsing Facebook, meaning you will never lose your place while you are scrolling through your news feed if you decide to buy the product.

Michael Kors, Mr Porter and Target are just only a few brands that have tested out this new advertising feature on Facebook.

The purpose of Canvas ads is that they load faster than retailers’ sites, which keeps a customer engaged and every second cut from loading issues increases the chances a user will buy a product.

The development of the growing shopping options is a response to the growing number of users who are using Facebook on their mobile device instead of visiting the website. According to TechCrunch, mobile commerce is expected to grow at a double digit annual rate in the next five years, and due to how easy it is to capitalize on this growing trend, Facebook has decided to jump on the bandwagon which helps companies invest in Facebook ads instead of developing their own apps.

If this new trend continues, expect more and more fashion brands to be looking for models to feature on their Facebook advertising and shopping campaigns. Therefore, increasing the number of jobs in the modeling industry.
