Eddie Murphy in Negotiations to Portray Inspector Clouseau in ‘Pink Panther’ Revival

Eddie Murphy is currently engaged in discussions with MGM about taking on the role of Inspector Clouseau in the highly anticipated reboot of the Pink Panther franchise. The studio is in talks with Murphy to secure his involvement in the project.

The upcoming revival will be helmed by director Jeff Fowler, with the script being penned by Chris Bremner. Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, operating under their Rideback banner, will be the producers. The comedy series originated in 1963 and starred Peter Sellers as the beloved Inspector Jacques Clouseau. Sellers went on to reprise the character in subsequent films such as “A Shot in the Dark” (1964), “The Return of the Pink Panther” (1975), “The Pink Panther Strikes Again” (1976), and “Revenge of the Pink Panther” (1978). Following Sellers, other esteemed actors like Alan Arkin, Roger Moore, and Steve Martin have also taken on the iconic role of the bumbling inspector.

The Pink Panther franchise has extended its reach beyond cinema, encompassing books, video games, and an animated series. The narrative revolves around a French police detective’s thrilling quest to recover a valuable pink diamond at the heart of a daring heist. No specific details have been disclosed regarding the film’s release date or the remaining cast members. Stay tuned for further updates.
