Study Says Teens Start School Too Damn Early

According to a recent study, doctors are saying teenagers are starting school too early in the morning.

Tons of tired teens of America are dragging themselves out of bed every morning and it looks like it may actually be unhealthy for them. According to the Academy of Pediatrics, classes should start any earlier than 8:30 AM.

NBC News recently reported that the AAP has released a new policy on the class room start times, and doctors are arguing for later start time for middle and high schools.

Dr. Judith Owens, explains that those who can not get enough sleep have a higher risk of being overweight and suffering depression.

“The research is clear that adolescents who get enough sleep have a reduced risk of being overweight or suffering depression, are less likely to be involved in automobile accidents, and have better grades, higher standardized test scores and an overall better quality of life…. Studies have shown that delaying early school start times is one key factor that can help adolescents get the sleep they need to grow and learn.

Teenagers have been arguing for later start times for years. Now Doctors and researchers are saying that school schedules are not aligned with teenager’s natural sleep patterns. According to Owens, the org is “both promoting the compelling scientific evidence that supports school start time delay as an important public health measure, and providing support and encouragement to those school districts around the country contemplating (the change).”

Hey, this will give teens more time to take acting classes and work on their script before school starts.
