Disney Extends Auditions Deadline for the “Jungle Book” Movie

The “Jungle Book” movie deadline is extended for a second time.

The deadline for the ‘Jungle Book‘ open casting call has been extended once more. The deadline is now June 24, 2014 according to reports.

Casting Director Sara Finn, is still looking for self-taped submissions for a child actor, aged 10 to 12, who can effectively portray a character of East Indian heritage. The child actor will star in the new Disney film version of “The Jungle Book“.

The Jungle Book centers on a young orphaned boy, Mowgli, who gets stuck in the Jungle and ends up being raised by wild animals including a bear and a panther.

The new Disney movie will be retold by Jon Favreau, the director of Iron Man and will be released in 3D. Jon Favreau is expected to produce and direct the upcoming movie for Disney. 

The cast of Favreau’s version of “The Jungle Book” already includes Idris Elba from Pacific Rim andThe Wire. He is set to voice the iconic tiger villain Shere Khan. The Hollywood Reporter also reports thatScarlett Johansson, who worked with Favreau on Iron Man 2 is currently in negotiations to work with Elba as a cast member along side, Academy Award winning actress Lupita Nyong’o from 12 Years a Slave.

The role being cast is Mowgliwho is “soulful, engaging, bright and athletic. He can be mischievous and impulsive, but is equally caring and creative. He has a noble and courageous spirit, which give us glimpses of the true hero he will become.”
