Is Daryl Dixon from ‘The Walking Dead’ gay? Creator discusses the character’s sexuality.
Over the course of four years, Norman Reedus‘ character, Daryl Dixon has become one of the most liked and treasured characters in the show. In the last couple of seasons there has been a lot of discussion as to whether he should be with Beth or Carol in the TV series, since both of the characters seem to like him.
But, in a surprising twist, Daryl Dixon could be gay. According to the creator of The Walking Dead, Robert Kirkman, it is a possibility that it might be revealed on the series.
When asked about the possibility that Daryl is gay Kirkman said, ‘All I can say is that it’s been discussed.’
‘We have very specific ideas about Daryl’s sexuality, or the seeming lack thereof, and if there’s ever a quiet period in the show where he’s not consistently distracted by crossbowing, we’ll tackle it in the show.’
When asked if that was something the show’s producers would allow, Kirkman replied, ‘For the record, they absolutely would.’ [Comicbook.com]
This could be a major change for television. The most watched series’ favorite character is a gay man. Daryl Dixon will most likely be the least stereotypical gay man on TV.
