Another movie studio is headed to Georgia. According to reports, Dougherty County may be the home to another film and TV production studio in Georgia.

CineDome Studios Inc. is planning a 120,000 square-foot dome studio near Lockett Station in Albany, Georgia.

According to Biz Journals, the Georgia State African American Chamber of Commerce and CineDome CEO Lydia McGee presented a proposal to county commissioners on June 5th.

“I think people in Georgia, film anyway, want to see this move out of the bigger cities,” McGee said during the meeting.

McGee said the company picked Dougherty County for its variety of terrains and its culture.

The company is currently looking for investors, and it could have its studio open in a year.

CineDome also plans an “Atlanta Mothership” a production facility with post-production, sound production, CGI services, backlot facilities, and data arrival storage. In addition, CineDome will use “dome superstructures”, which are more energy efficient and cheaper than a regular building. The company’s goal is to become the “greenest” film studios in the country.

“The structures are virtually indestructible to the elements of nature, fire and sound penetration and are currently used as emergency evacuation centers by FEMA, which means less insurance cost on the buildings themselves,” CineDome said on its Facebook page.
