Chris Evans Wants to Play Captain America Forever: “If Marvel Wants Me, They Got Me”

Chris Evans says he is willing to play Captain America as long as possible.

Are casting directors currently casting Chris Evans’ replacement and looking for a new Captain America?

There was speculation that Disney was going to completely rebuild the Marvel franchise after the Mickey Mouse took over Marvel studios. Chris Evans in particular was a touchy subject because a lot of reports suggested that he was going to get fired or he was going to quit at the end of his contract. In fact, rumors suggested that casting directors were already looking for Chris Evan’s replacement.

That’s really bad news. Especially when your directorial debut was a major failure. Variety called Chris Evans’ movie Before We Go, “Two pleasant but not especially interesting strangers walk and talk the night away in Chris Evans’ lukewarm directorial debut.”

Even when Evans tries to inject some suspense into the proceedings by giving Brooke a secret reason for needing to be home before daybreak, you never really feel there’s much at stake.

This kind of attention and bad news lately would drive any actor to drink. But, it looks as though Chris Evans wants to make sure everyone knows that he is committed to playing Captain America until the very end.

“Listen, if Marvel wants me they got me. I’ve never had such a relationship where you have such—I mean look at my resume, I’m used to being on set being like, ‘Ah is this movie gonna be terrible?’ Marvel just can’t stop making great movies, they do it in their sleep. It’s wonderful directors and producers and actors and scripts, and it’s like a playground as an actor.” [Source]

Is this due to the recent changes at Marvel? It is hard to say, but after so many movies Chris Evans has definitely made the role of Captain America his. He may not be Captain America forever but, his impact on the role will always be there.
