Chipotle faces another E.Coli outbreak.

Chipotle’s E. coli outbreak has spread to six different states, according to federal officials, after it started out earlier this month in only two states. Now, more than 40 people have gotten sick, according to reports.

The outbreak all started with just a few dozen cases in Oregon and Washington, after the company shut down several stores.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Chipotle restaurants in California, Ohio, New York and Minnesota allegedly served E. coli to their customers.

What’s interesting is that the outbreak, known as E. coli O26 outbreak strain, is typically seen online in Chipotle food. In fact, 45 people have gotten sick from the E. coli O26 strain and 43 people hate a burrito from Chipotle.

In a statement, Steve Ells, chairman and co-CEO of Chipotle, offered a public apology, “sincerest apologies to those who have been affected,” and commented that the company is changing their food preparation procedures, ingredients and deep cleanings at restaurants linked to the outbreak.

However, the outbreak has not been traced to a particular source which as Seattle attorney Bill Marler, (who is representing three dozen people affected by the outbreak) on the hunt for “a common supplier with a common food item.

Meanwhile, Chipotle’s stock is free falling. Shares fell 12.3 percent to $536.19 on Friday, makring an 18-month low for the chipotle fast food chain. I assume this happens when you serve your customers E. Coli O26.
