After one movie, audition or even open casting call, an actor can be “typecasted” forever leaving them with little choices to break out of a stereotype held by casting directors. The Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice actress told the Washington Post that she was typcast as the “bitchy” girl when she had her natural blonde locks. Amy Adams said dyeing her hair red, Adams said she was considered for bigger movie roles.

The Vinyl star started her acting career as a blonde, and was often typecast as the “hot chick” or the “pretty girl”. However, when she dyed her hair brown for a role, she saw an immediate shift in the roles people asked her to audition for, stating that casting directors saw brunettes as more intelligent than blondes in movie roles.
