Warner Bros. Developing Carl Sagan Movie

Warner Bros. is currently working on a untitled drama about the late astrophysicist Carl Sagan.

According to Variety, the upcoming Carl Sagan film will be written by “Deadfall” writer Zach Dean. However, details surrounding the Carl Sagan movie has not been revealed.

Carl Sagan was an American astronomer, cosmologist, astrophysicist, astrobiologist, author, and science teacher. His work were key to the discovery of the high surface temperatures of Venus. In addition, he is best known for his contributions to the scientific community regarding the research of aliens, and extraterrestrial life. Sagan became a legend after the scientific experiental demonstration of the production of amino acids from basic chemicals by radiation.

Carl Sagan created the first physical messages that were sent into space: the Pioneer plaque and the Voyager Golden Record, messages that could potentially be understood by any extraterrestrial intelligence that might find them.

Carl Sagan also published more than 600 scientific papers and articles. Sagan also was an author, co-author or editor of more than 20 books. Sagan is known for many of his popular science books, such as The Dragons of Eden, Broca’s Brain and Pale Blue Dot, and for the award-winning 1980 television series Cosmos: A Personal Voyage, which he narrated and co-wrote. The most widely-watched series in the history of American public television, Cosmos has been seen by at least 500 million people across 60 different countries.

On board to produce the Carl Sagan movie is Lynda Obst and Ann Druyan. Lynda Obst was one of the producers of last year’s Christopher Nolan space epic “Interstellar,” starring Matthew McConaughey. In fact, 1997’s “Contact,” which starred Jodie Foster and McConaughey, and was adapted from Sagan’s novel.

Warner Bros. teamed with Paramount to release “Interstellar,” which grossed $672 million worldwide.
