Captain America: Civil War‘s director praises Atlanta’s film industry and Pinewood Atlanta’s state of the art studios.

Georgia’s film industry is on fire. If the 30 simultaneous productions filming at once wasn’t a clear indication of Georgia’s dominance over the film industry, then the Atlanta filmed Captain America: Civil War is the nail in the coffin. According to reports, Captain America: Civil War earned $180M this weekend in the United States. And the movie is expected to earn more than $300M internationally making it the biggest movie of 2016.

Captain America: Civil War filmed in the now unofficial Marvel studios, Pinewood Atlanta Studios. According to 11Alive, “The climate for filmmaking is excellent,” co-director Anthony Russo told 11Alive’s Jennifer Leslie. “Marvel’s having a great run here.” Russo added, “I think it’s like the best place my brother and I have ever shot, to be honest with you,” Russo said. “It’s a top-shelf production facility. We’re lucky to be here.”

“To find a location that has so much flexibility is not easy to do,” said Executive Producer Nate Moore told 11Alive. “It allowed us on the production side to get a lot more shooting done because we didn’t have to move around to multiple locations in one day.”

So what’s next for Marvel in Atlanta, Georgia? Marvel is currently filming Guardians of the Galaxy 2 at Pinewood Atlanta Studios with Spider-Man: Homecoming coming up next.
