Following his retirement due to aphasia, Bruce Willis has unfortunately been diagnosed with dementia.

Last year, the world was sadly informed that Bruce Willis would retire from acting due to a diagnosis of aphasia. Now, his family has confirmed even more heartbreaking news regarding his condition.

The Willis/Moore family has issued a public declaration stating, “Since we announced Bruce’s diagnosis of aphasia in spring 2022, Bruce’s condition has progressed, and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (known as FTD). Unfortunately, challenges with communication are just one symptom of Bruce’s disease. While this is painful, it is a relief to have a clear diagnosis finally.”

Rumer Willis, the daughter of Bruce and Demi Moore, affirmed her parent’s diagnosis on social media. Frontotemporal dementia has an earlier age of diagnosis compared to other types of dementia, making it unique among them. Personality alterations, speech impediment, and motor dysfunction are all common symptoms of this condition.

Approximately 10-20% of all diagnosed cases of dementia are attributable to this type of dementia. Bruce launched his acting career in the early 1980s, appearing in blockbuster films such as Blind Date, The Verdict, and the iconic classic Sunset. With an illustrious four-decade career in acting, Bruce Willis has been immortalized for his iconic role in the beloved Die Hard movie series. Through his illustrious career, he has achieved an impressive feat by garnering a staggering worldwide gross of over USD 5 billion from his films.
