HBO Ramps Up Production for “Brothers in Atlanta”

New HBO comedy series is coming to Atlanta, “Brothers in Atlanta”

HBO is ramping up production on a new comedy series, Brothers in Atlanta about a group of struggling entertainers and best friends Langston (Diallo Riddle) and Moose (Bashir Salahuddin) who are trying to navigate relationships and life in the Peach State.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new pilot will feature Jaden Smith and Maya Rudolph in recurring roles.

Brothers in Atlanta will feature, Maya Rudolph, she will play Shirle, Moose’s demanding boss who is a pop star whose heyday was twenty years ago. While Jaden Smith is set to play Curtis, a “New Atlanta” teenager who is Langston’s neighbor with unpredictable interests and suspicious income. This will be Jaden Smith’s largest TV commitment since 2006.

Langston plays an Atlanta native who is an aspiring DJ but, his career is largely stalled because of his lack of focus and get-rich schemes. While Moose is an Atlanta newbie and is known for being a backup singer with dreams of becoming a star but, constantly runs into trouble.

Filming for Brothers in Atlanta, previously known as “Bashir and Diallo” is expected to start filming this spring. We previously posted casting calls for the series in September of 2013 and CL Casting was the previous extras casting director for the series. So, expect the casting company to hire background actors, stand-ins and photo doubles in the next couple of months.

Brothers in Atlanta marks HBO’s second pilot pickup in as many days. HBO also greenlighted musical period drama Virtuoso from Alan Ball and Elton John. On Tuesday and has drama Laughs Unlimited as well as comedies starring Sarah Silverman and Sarah Jessica Parker in the pilot stage.
