Sports Illustrated model Barbara Palvin fires back at people who bashed her for being “overweight”

Model Barbara Palvin took to Twitter to respond to people who bashed her weight after she shared a picture of herself in a bikini.

The Sports Illustrated model addressed commenters on Saturday who called her “Fat” in photos from the magazine’s newest swimsuit issue.

“Woow. I got some nasty comments about me being fat,” tweeted Palvin. “Well I am not as skinny as I was when I was 18. But I don’t consider myself fat!”

While many shared harsh words for Palvin, others showed their support.

“If you’re ‘fat’ I wish I was fat too,” one user tweeted.

Another added, “you’re not fat you’re HEALTHY.”

Palvin made her debut in the swimsuit issue that featured three separate cover models including size 16 model Ashley Graham, former UFC champion Ronda Rousey and model Hailey Clauson. Sports Illustrated Swimsuit editor MJ Day told PEOPLE they made an effort to be “more inclusive and be more representative of what real beauty is.”

“I think that the industry has for a while been stuck. Beauty is subjective. Beauty is not one size fits all. Beauty varies from decade to decade, from country to country, from state to state,” said Day. “This is a platform to really celebrate that and remind people of that.”

The Hungarian model is up for SI’s Rookie of the Year award.
