Anne Hathaway used to be Hollywood’s golden child but now she’s considered too old.

One look at her and you would assume she lands every movie role she auditions for. However, at the young age of 32, Hathaway says she is already experiencing ageism in Hollywood and many of her movie roles are going to women in their early 20s. But, as far as she’s concerned, this is better for her career.

I can’t complain about it because I benefited from it. When I was in my early twenties, parts would be written for women in their fifties and I would get them. And now I’m in my early thirties and I’m like, ‘Why did that 24-year-old get that part?’ I was that 24 year old once, I can’t be upset about it, it’s the way things are. All I can do right now is think that thankfully you have built up perhaps a little bit of cachet and can tell stories that interest you and if people go to see them you’ll be allowed to make more.

Anne Hathaway may be one of the most laid-back actresses in Hollywood because, several other actors have stood up against Hollywood’s ageism allegations. However, Anne Hathaway is unlike most actresses. She is in a place in her career and her life where she can easily pick and choose her next production or movie. And since winning an Oscar for Les Misérables, she has certainly proved that she’s the kind of actress that can last in the industry.
