Andrew Garfield reveals his thoughts on the future of Spider-Man and the actor, Tom Holland that took his job.

Ever since the Sony e-mail Hack and the subsequent deal with Marvel, many fans have rejoiced at the fact that Spider-Man is now working with Marvel, still others are upset by the fact that actor Andrew Garfield was fired from the role before ever truly had the chance to showcase his skills.

But in speaking with ET, Garfield reveals that there are, despite what stories said, no hard feeling son his part about it. In fact, he’s rather relieved he no longer has to take the blame for the failing franchise any longer:

“I’m just really excited to just be a fan again as opposed to bearing the weight of it,” he said.

Many fans may remember that before he was cast, Garfield himself was a fan of Spider-Man just like everyone else. And it was made fairly clear, through the stories that hit the Internet, that he wasn’t all that happy with what Sony executives were doing with the Spider-Man franchise. You can only imagine how frustrating for the actor, locked into a contract, to see how Spider-Man was being portrayed and there is nothing Garfield could do about it.

But, Garfield was nice enough to praise the young actor who took his job away, Tom Holland. “It feels lovely,” he explained, “especially because Tom Holland is a really, really great actor. He was in this movie ‘The Impossible’ and he was just this incredibly powerful, sensitive, just wonderful young actor.”

Andrew Garfield has two movies coming up, ‘Silence’ and ‘Hacksaw Ridge’. And many say that these two movies have the potential for landing Garfield his first Oscar nomination.

You can check out Tom Holland’s version of Spider-Man in the upcoming ‘Captain America: Civil War’ movie when it hits theaters on May 6, 2016.
