‘American Ultra’ Writer Begs People to See His Movie

The writer behind the Kristen Stewart, Jesse Eisenberg action thriller ‘American Ultra’ is begging for people to watch his movie.

American Ultra bombed in the box office this weekend, and the movie’s screenwriter, Max Landis, is pissed off.

Landis took to Twitter to vent his frustrations that the movie only debuted in sixth place upsetting $5.5 million in ticket sales, despite having big name stars like Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg.

“American Ultra finished dead last at the box office, behind even Mission Impossible and Man From Uncle… American Ultra was also beaten by the critically reviled Hitman Agent 47 and Sinister, despite being a better reviewed film than either… which leads me to a bit of a conundrum: Why?” Landis wrote on his personal Twitter page.

Landis couldn’t believe the movie did so poorly in theaters, adding: “Certainly better, in the internet’s opinion, than other things released the same day. If you saw it, you probably didn’t hate it.”

The writer theorized, “American Ultra lost to a sequel, a sequel reboot, a biopic, a sequel and a reboot,” Landis pointing out the the film was not bad quality. “It isn’t [bad],” Landis argued. “Divisive, sure. But better than others this week.”

“Go see American Ultra, it’s really good,” he concluded.

If you saw the movie, tweet Landis. You may just cheer him up.
