About Amazon:

Amazon started out as a small online bookstore in Jeff Bezos’ garage back in 1994. Since then, it has grown into one of the biggest and most influential companies in the world. The evolution of Amazon over the past 25+ years has been remarkable.

After launching Amazon.com in 1995, the company quickly expanded beyond books to offer music, DVDs, video games, electronics, and more. Becoming a prominent player in ecommerce, Amazon leveraged technological innovations like 1-Click ordering and customer reviews to enhance the online shopping experience.

In the early 2000s, Amazon branched out into offering web services and producing consumer devices like the Kindle e-reader. The 2000s also saw the emergence of features like Amazon Prime and Amazon Marketplace, allowing third-party sellers to list products.

Over the 2010s and beyond, Amazon continued its rapid growth through major acquisitions like Zappos, Whole Foods Market, and MGM Studios. It emerged as a major player in entertainment with Amazon Prime Video and Amazon Studios. The company also expanded into prescription drugs, cashierless physical stores, and artificial intelligence with Alexa.

Today, Amazon has over 1.5 million employees and counting. It remains a dominating force in ecommerce while also providing cloud computing services, producing original films and series, developing voice assistant technology, and more.

The story of Amazon illustrates how a small internet start-up selling books was able to innovate and diversify into one of the most ubiquitous companies in the world under Bezos’ leadership. It will be fascinating to see where Amazon goes in the decades to come as technology and shopping habits continue to evolve.
