Adam Sandler’s “Blended” is One of His Worst Movies Ever

Adam Sandler’s “Blended” is one of the worst Sandler’s worst movie releases.

The Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore feature film, “Blended” made $14 million dollars over Memorial Day weekend, and will most likely make $18 million dollars over the course of four days. Although, it is not considered a blockbuster letdown, it is still a financial bummer since it cost $45 million to produce; making “Blended” the one of the worst openings ever for Adam Sandler.

“That’s My Boy” managed to make $13.4 million dollars in 2012, and still holds the trophy for the worst Adam Sandler release ever. Even, the major disappointment, “Jack and Jill” managed to make $25 million.

Adam Sandler was once a major hit in the box office. His collaboration with Drew Barrymore were consistent box office block busters. The hit movie “50 First Dates” opened with $39.8 million.

“What this shows, after misses like ‘Jack and Jill,’ ‘That’s My Boy’ and ‘Blended,’ is that Sandler, like everyone else in the comedy world, now has to dig a bit deeper to deliver a hit these days,” said Exhibitor Relations vice-president and senior analyst Jeff Bock, “unless, of course, he plunges into ‘Grown Ups 3.’”

What may have happened is the target audience Adam Sandler was targeting has grown out of the typical Sandler jokes and comedy. For example, “Neighbors,” the Seth Rogen and Zac Efron comedy, is a recent R-rated comedy that even topped “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” in the second week. Illustrating the type of humor people now enjoy is different than before. Therefore, people are just sick of Adam Sandler.
