‘The Cobbler’ is Adam Sandler Biggest Box Office Flop of His Career

You probably didn’t know this but, Adam Sandler just released a brand new movie two weeks ago. ‘The Cobbler’ was released in theaters on March 13th and since its release, has been reported to be the biggest box-office flop of Adam Sandler’s career making only $24,000 at the box office in its opening weekend.

You would think, how can a movie that features such a popular actor do so poorly in the box office? Well, one reason could be the lack of commercials or advertising. The other reason could be the movie just sucked. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a rating of 7%, based on 42 reviews, with a rating of 3/10. The site’s critical consensus reads, “The Cobbler represents a slight step up from Adam Sandler’s recent comedies, but while its cloying sentiment proves a more palatable substitute for his usual crass humor, it still isn’t terribly compelling.” On Metacritic, the film has a score of 22 out of 100, based on 18 critics, indicating “generally unfavorable reviews”.

So what was the movie all about you ask? Max Simkin (Adam Sandler) repairs shoes in the same New York shop that has been in his family for generations. Disenchanted with the grind of daily life, Max stumbles upon a magical heirloom that allows him to step into the lives of his customers and see the world in a new way. Sometimes walking in another man’s shoes is the only way one can discover who they really are. ‘The Cobbler’ features Adam Sandler, Dan Stevens, Dustin Hoffman, and Steve Buscemi.
