Robert Downey Jr. is heading to Atlanta, Georgia to star in the upcoming Spider-Man movie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Robert Downey Jr., will reprise his role as Iron Man in the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming. Tom Holland will star as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and he will be making his debut in the upcoming Atlanta filmed movie Captain America: Civil War.

The movie is expected to establish major relationship between Iron Man and Spider-Man.

Sony previously held the rights to Spider-Man since the 1990s, but its recent movies proved extremely unpopular with fans and movie critics. Meanwhile, Marvel has built a force to be reckoned with in Hollywood, reacquiring the rights of many of the characters it had licensed out in the past. But, as The Hollywood Reporter points out, by picking up Robert Downey Jr. for the Spider-Man: Homecoming movie will have a huge impact:

But with Downey’s boarding, it appears that Marvel will continue to keep Spider-Man close not just creatively but also literally; Iron Man and Spider-Man appearing together in Homecoming keeps the Sony movies strongly tied to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and its films released by Disney.

Downey and his industrialist hero have been cornerstones of Marvel’s film slate even though unlike his other co-stars he has not signed the studio’s complicated multipic deals. His last renegotiation included his appearing in Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and Part 2, as well as Civil War.

This is the latest Marvel movie to film in Atlanta, Georgia. Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Captain America: Civil War and Ant-Man all filmed in Atlanta. Essentially, Marvel has called Atlanta the unofficial home for all future feature films.
