YouTube is one of the most powerful media platforms in the world. With millions of videos shared every week and thousands of people becoming famous for sharing their ideas, YouTube has become a platform that makes it easier for regular people to broadcast their dreams, ideas, and creativity to the world. Now, YouTube is teaming up with the Sundance Institute to help develop aspiring writers reach their goals.

The new program is called Sundance Institute – YouTube New Voices Lab. The program will support a group of 10 creators developing scripted short-form content for digital platforms that are up to 25 minutes in length per episode.

The YouTube New Voices Lab will take place this November in Los Angeles, California where aspiring writers will work on their craft.

This year’s Lab will take place November 9-11, 2017 in Los Angeles, where Fellows will work with an exciting group of creators, showrunners and episodic producers to develop their stories in an environment that encourages risk-taking and innovation. At the Lab, Fellows will participate in an intensive writing workshop, one-on-one creative story meetings, writers’ rooms, and group conversations about production, post-production, and marketing in the evolving digital landscape.

Following the program, content creators will receive year-round support including creative and tactical advice from industry advisors including agents, managers, attorneys, showrunner, producers, and other people who can help take their idea to production to finally distribution.
