Winter Storm Paralyzes Georgia’s Film Industry

Snowstorm Inga has paralyzed Georgia’s film industry.

Multiple movies and TV shows have shut down production due to unsafe road conditions and weather.

According to The Weather Channel, Winter Storm Inga is affecting parts of the Florida panhandle to Maine. Parts of the Atlanta metro area picked up over 1 inch of snow Tuesday night into early Wednesday, shutting down schools, triggering major delays at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, and making roads treacherous.

In fact, casting directors took to social media to alert film crew workers, background actors, and production staff that filming has been shut down. Tammy Smith Casting, the extras casting director behind Netflix’s Ozark and the upcoming Super Fly reboot, broke the news that “due to dangerous road conditions” scenes were canceled.

But, the winter storm has not stopped all productions filming in Georgia. Tyler Perry’s extras casting office, Southern Casting Associates, posted a rush call looking for actors to show up to work at 11 AM to play bartender, nurse and/or doctor.
