The film is based on the novel with the same plot and The Spectacular Now will be released in 2013. Currently, the film is shot in Athens, Ga and various parts of Atlanta.
The Spectacular Now will feature Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Brie Larson, Shailene Woodly, Bob Odenkirk, Kyle Chandler, Miles Teller, and Day Okeniyi. The film is in association with 21 Laps Entertainment, Andrew Lauren Productions, and Global Produce.
