Acting Tips for Extras
An extra is an actor who is hired to fill out a scene. They are often given very little to do and no lines. However, even though they may not have speaking roles, extras still play an essential role in producing a film or television show. Here are some tips on how to be a successful extra:
- Be punctual. This is one of the most important things you can do as an extra. Show up on time and be ready to work when you are called to set.
- Follow directions. When you are on set, you must follow the directions of the director and other crew members. They will tell you where to stand, what to do, and how to behave.
- Be flexible. Things change all the time on set. You may be asked to do something that you were not expecting. Be flexible and go with the flow.
- Dress appropriately. When you are an extra, you will represent the film or television show you are working on. Make sure that you are dressed appropriately for the scene.
- Don’t be a distraction. Remember that you are there to fill out the background of a scene, not to be the center of attention. Avoid doing anything that would distract from the scene’s main action.
