Nicholas Sparks’ ‘The Choice’ Last Movie to Film in North Carolina with Tax Incentives

The author behind ‘The Notebook‘ is ramping up production for his new movie, ‘The Choice‘ and it may just be the last film to shoot in North Carolina as the state cuts incentives.

Nicholas Sparks has turned several of his romantic novels into feature films over the last 15 years.

A sixth Sparks movie will begin production in North Carolina as director Ross Katz plans on filming “The Choice” in Wilmington, North Carolina. The movie is based on Nicholas Sparks 2007 novel about the life journey of a North Carolina couple.

But, this may be the last time North Carolina will see Sparks movie in the state. North Carolina plans on ending their tax credit program at the end of 2014 in return for a grant program that will scale back tax incentives.

“We are very lucky that ‘The Choice’ was eligible to participate in the last months of North Carolina’s film incentives program — an established and successful initiative that has been responsible for millions of dollars’ worth of job earnings and the growth of a thriving community of film and TV professionals,” she said. “Thousands will be forced to relocate” if incentives end.

Producers are hiring crew members to work on the new movie and according to reports, Marty Siu Casting will be casting extras for the production.
